Our Service.
Commissions start from the initial meetings with the client working through the basic ideas, sketches and timber selection until a basic design has been agreed.
We then produce full size 1:1 working drawings so the client can see exactly what they are getting and get a general feel for the size, proportion and style of the finished piece. At this stage alterations can also be easily made and once the client is satisfied with the design and costs its time to commence work.
All our pieces start life as kiln dried "off the saw" boards straight from the sawmill. When it comes to timber there is not much we cannot source, however we tend to offer our clients our native Scottish timber as their beauty is always some way ahead of their commercially farmed European and American counterparts. Scottish timber is unique due to the places it grows and our notorious weather all affect grain structure and colour, which frequently produces some of the best and most unpredictable figuring you will ever see.
Every single timber component is manufactured in our own workshop to exacting tolerance levels with meticulous attention to detail. The slideshow below briefly outlines the stages of what it takes to build a single table from the 1:1 working drawing's to the final coat of polish, with most pieces taking hundreds of man hours to make.
